Covina, CA—Claude Monet and Yuhua Shouzhi Wang: An Exhibition of Water Lily Paintings in Dialogue kicked off today in H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Cultural and Art Museum in Covina, a suburban city east of downtown Los Angeles.
The exhibition, sponsored by the Art Who’s Who Museum of Painting in Dialogue, is a dialogue exhibition between the water lily paintings of Claude Monet, the founder of “impressionism”, and Professor Yuhua Shouzhi Wang, the founder of “imagery-naturalism”.
Sixteen color water lily paintings in oil from each artist are placed in the dialogue, while another sixteen ink-wash lotus paintings by Yuhua Shouzhi Wang are to be on display.
The ribbon cutting ceremony today was widely attended by local elected official, community leaders, and well-known artists, including Yvonne Yiu, Mayor of Monterey Park, Tony Wu, Mayor of West Covina, Chi Ho Liao, Mayor of San Gabriel, George Chen, Councilmember of Torrance, and Jimmy Wu, representative of Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
According to the organizer, the lotus paintings of Professor Yuhua Shouzhi Wang is rich in depth. The colors are beautiful but heavy and seasoned, conveying a misty atmosphere that exudes elegance and obscurity. Stemming from a foundation of oil color painting, she breaks normative form of everyday objects, capturing the naturally evolving nature of imageries that come from everyday life yet transcend daily life.
The World Federation of UNESCO (WFUCA) accorded Professor Yuhua Shouzhi Wang’s artwork the “WFUCA 2013” title among many artists’ works. And the New York Academy of Art conferred on her the “International First-Class Artist” title.
